Activity 8

Famous Speeches

Many famous speeches have been delivered over the years. The content of these speeches continue to be used to inspire, motivate, and unify us today. Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln delivered two great examples of such speeches.

Winston Churchill served his country as solder, statesman, historian, and journalist. His military career and work as a reporter took him to India, Cuba, and the Sudan. He was elected to parliament in 1990, again from 1906-1908, and from 1924-1945. He held dozens of other key posts, including that of prime Minister. (LaRocco and Johnson, 1997, 49)
